the accident

One day
My little nangi
I found
Sprawled
On the red polish verandha floor
With a box full of water colours
And a big white blank paper.
I watched.
The blank white sheet
Began to take on colour…
A long green strip
Next to an orange strip
Barred around
By a saffron border,
That ran all over.
Few minutes past
A Lion comes to life
Complete with sword.
He’s separated from the two strips,
Caged in a big maroon box
With four bo leaves in four separate corners.
Every feature had its assigned spaces,
The saffron border made sure of that.
The biggest space
For the Lion ofcourse.
Her task complete
My little nangi fumbles to get on her feet
Only to knock the jam jar filled with water down.
The little stream made its way to her drawing
And I saw the green blend into the saffron
The saffron into the maroon
And the Lion dissolved
The bo leaves washed away.
By accident the colours merged,
And absorbed each other.
It was a magnificent vision of One.
And I thought at that moment
My flag never looked better.
